🧑🏼🍳 Why This Recipe’s a Keeper
Cooking perfect eggs in an air fryer is fast and easy with optimum results.
- It’s so convenient. When prepping meals, the stovetop is often crowded with pots and pans – with no room left for boiling eggs. But with an air fryer, you can cook the eggs without using the stove.
- You’ll save time. There’s no need to start with room temperature eggs. You can use cold eggs straight from the fridge. There’s no need to wait for a pot of water to boil on stovetop. And for this recipe, there’s no need to preheat the air fryer before cooking.
- Cooking is quick. Just add eggs to the basket. Set the temperature and cook time and you’re halfway there.
- Fewer broken shells. When eggs boil on stovetop, they slightly bounce and shift as they cook. This often creates a few broken eggs. But in the air fryer, we cook without water which reduces cracking.
- Consistent results: With this simple recipe you’ll achieve a batch of perfectly-cooked eggs, every time. No more worries about green rings developing around the yolks, or dull-colored whites from overcooking.
There are unlimited ways to enjoy air fryer hard boiled eggs. Eat them for breakfast, lunch, or snack. Use them in your favorite recipes, as garnishes, in a mushroom ramen bowl, or for a cobb salad.

🛒 Ingredients
- Large Eggs: We used 6 to 12 large eggs when determining the amount of cook time needed for achieving the best air fryer hard boiled eggs. For larger or smaller eggs, slightly adjust the cook time.
- Ice and Cold Tap Water: We use them to create an ice water bath.
📖 Recipe Steps
RECIPE PREP: Create an ice water bath. 👉🏻 Fill a large bowl halfway full of ice. Cover the ice with cold tap water. Set the bowl aside. (If no ice on hand, later cool the hot eggs under cold running water.)
- Select the number of eggs you’d like to cook. For best results, cook 6 to 12 eggs at a time.
- Arrange the eggs in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Spread them out so they’re not clustered together. If there’s enough room, leave space between them. Cook at 250°F for 15 minutes.
- With a scoop colander, immediately transfer the hard boiled eggs to the ice water bath and leave them there for 10 to 15 minutes. This halts the cooking so the eggs are perfect – not overdone.
- Crack and peel the eggs, then slice if desired.
📝 KITCHEN NOTES: The cook time may vary depending on the size and model of your air fryer, the size of the eggs, and the number of eggs being cooked. If you don’t have an air fryer basket, just cook the eggs on a grill rack.

- With a scoop colander, immediately transfer hard boiled eggs to the ice water bath. Leave them there tin the bowl to cool completely – about 10 to 15 minutes. This will halt the cooking process, so the eggs don’t continue to cook in residual heat. Once the eggs are cool, don’t drain off the water.
- How to peel a perfect hard boiled egg: Tap the bottom and sides of the shell on the side of the bowl to crack it. Re-submerge the egg under the ice-cold water and peel away the shell.
