Boho Chic | Get Festival Ready in Beautiful Bohemian Style

One of the many things I love about traveling to my second home in Puerto Vallarta is the beautiful, beachy Boho chic vibe. There’s a happy, fun, festive atmosphere in this popular tourist destination. When I’m there I wear feel-good items that are casual and beachy with a fun twist of Bohemian style. I hope this post provides you with plenty of Boho chic fashion inspiration to kick off summer right. Because wherever you live, if you have a smile on your face and happiness in your heart life presents its own unique festival.

My condo in Nuevo Vallarta is 15 minutes from Puerto Vallarta’s international airport. It’s my happy place where I soak in the beauty of tropical paradise. On most trips I arrive with a few girlfriends about two weeks ahead of my husband. We relax, go on adventures, and have great conversations with our toes in the sand. On the Pacific Coast of Mexico the sunsets are amazing! We like to go to an ocean-view restaurant or beach bar to sip frosty Margaritas, Pina Coladas and Corona while watching the sky change colors and the sun sink into the ocean.

Boho Chic | Beautiful Bohemian Style Dresses + Boho Tops

Most mornings in Mexico I rise and shine early. After my shower, I’ll pull on a pair of shorts and an off-the-shoulder Bohemian top. I walk out the door barefooted and head down to the beach. I love taking early morning walks along the shoreline. Neighboring properties along Flamingos Beach are lovely condo complexes and sprawling all-inclusive resorts. Resort workers are out early raking the sand and getting kayaks and Hobie Cats ready for the day. Loungers are unstacked and set beneath palm trees and palapas. Well-trained resort guests begin the morning towel game, reserving the shadiest spots by spreading their beach towels across loungers.

During the high season months the weather is literally perfect, morning through evening. In the hot summer months a light morning breeze and a few afternoon showers cut through the humidity and bring a bit of welcome relief from the heat of the season. Along the shoreline birds fly overhead singing and chirping loudly. Depending on the season, I may glimpse of a pod of dolphins, a humpback whale, or see dozens of tiny sea turtles making their way into the water. With each step on the sand my toes are greeted by lacy foam fingers reaching out from warm rolling waves. The ebb and flow of the ocean captures my imagination. This is my period of magical thinking when thoughts nearly float.

Last week Corona Sunsets Festival 2016 took place between my condo complex and the Samba Resort. The photo above was snapped by a friend of mine as she stood on the balcony of my condo. It shows the set-up taking place for the evening’s festivities. Event tickets were sold through Ticket Master. Below is a fantastic 25-second video taken by Corona Mexico and posted on Twitter. It showcases their grand Mexican festival with a distinctive beachy Bohemian vibe. You can actually see our condo complex in the starting image and at the end. It’s the layered white building on the right. My husband and I marvel at how every week there seems to be some sort of colorful festival, special event, or fireworks taking place in the towns lining beautiful Banderas Bay.

Boho Chic | Bohemian Style Sandals + Havaianas

I love these beautiful Boho chic sandals! With the exception of the Birkenstocks, everything here is just my style. (Even though I don’t personally wear Birkenstock, this round-up of fabulous Bohemian style would be incomplete without them.) I own more than a dozen pairs of Havaiana flip flops. My favorite two pairs are studded with shiny Swarovski crystals. When I slip them on and step into the sun they sparkle and glimmer like brilliant rays of sunshine. My grey Havaianas are the same exact same style as the black Havaianas above.

Boho Chic | Bohemian Style Baggallini

Heading off for the day’s adventures I’ll grab a beach towel and my Baggallini. I love that all my Baggallini purses are colorful, stylish, and lightweight. There’s plenty of room for my notepad, camera, extra batteries and sunscreen. I’ll climb up into the Jeep, slip off my sandals and drive barefooted. As I hit the highway my MP3 is plugged in, there’s cool wind in my hair and I’m surrounded by the tunes and lyrics of my favorite music. In a tourist town there’s always a special feeling that permeates the air. Everyone is happy, in party mode, and ready to have a good time. There’s excitement to be had and natural beauty to behold. There’s never a dull moment.

I love to explore nearby beach towns with my husband and friends. One of my favorites is colorful, vibrant Sayulita, about 20-25 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta. It’s bursting with Boho chic style! This surf town hosts international SUP and surfing competitions and is laden with tropical charm. Residents and visitors are a mix of Mexican locals, Americans, Canadians, and a sprinkling of Europeans. Golf carts and ATVs are the favored mode of transportation. The whole destination is filled with laid back Bohemian vibes.
