  5. I think this is almost the same as Spaghetti Carbonara as what we are used to eat here. I’ll be honest that yours look so much creamier and I like that it has a lot of cheese in it.

  6. I make an alfredo sauce here as well but it’s a much simpler recipe with just butter, cream, Parmesan and pepper but I also have picky kids that don’t like the stronger Romano and Reggiano cheeses. I love this recipe though

  14. This is interesting because I just came back from Rome, and we couldn’t find Alfredo sauce anywhere. We were told that Alfredo is American not Italian, wonder if that’s true. Regardless to where it comes from, I LOVE a creamy Alfredo sauce. Best thing ever!

    1. Good Morning Diane! In the US we call this delicious white pasta sauce over fettuccini noodles Fettuccini Alfredo. In Italy these you won’t find it listed on their menus under “Fettuccini Alfredo”, they use other names: fettuccine al burro, fettuccine burro e parmigiano, or pasta in bianco. Either way, it’s incredibly delicious! :-)

  15. You know what? I have lived in Italy for a year and not so far away from the border for 3 and still… I have never have pasta alfredo…. shame on me! This recipe sounds so easy and wonderful! And look at that sauce! Delicious!

    1. Hi Corrine & Kirsty! How awesome that you live near the border to Italy. On Italian menus Fettuccini Alfredo goes by different names: fettuccine al burro, fettuccine burro e parmigiano, or pasta in bianco. Thanks so much for stopping by for this homemade alfredo recipe. Have a wonderful day! :-)
