Spring Break 2016 | Party Like a Rock Star in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s top spring break destinations. Thousands of vacationing students and young adults flock to the warm sunny shores of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. As a travel blogger for visit-vallarta.com, I know the vibrant fun that lies ahead for those who are traveling to this unique tropical destination for Spring Break. My daughter Brooke and a friend will be pulling out their passports and heading down to our beachfront condo in Mexico where I spend a portion of the year. They’re ready to enjoy the festivities and excitement of Spring Break in Puerto Vallarta!
Puerto Vallarta has earned a place among the hottest Spring Break destinations in Mexico. It has world-class resorts, gorgeous beaches, adventure activities and exciting nightlife. Explore the flavors of Mexico at a wide variety of affordable restaurants and bars. If you’re craving American-style food during Spring Break, no worries! You’ll find McDonald’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., KFC, Church’s Chicken, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Bubba Gumps, Chili’s, Outback Steak House, Baskin Robbins, and Starbucks. For a scrumptious breakfast in downtown Puerto Vallarta head over to these popular favorites: Fredy’s Toucan, The Pancake House or Coco’s Kitchen.Spring Break 2016 | Party Like a Rock Star in Puerto Vallarta Click To Tweet
Along Los Muertos Beach you can say hello to $1 dollar Coronas and Margaritas. Enjoy these refreshing beverages with your toes in the sand. This special is offered year-round at Sea Monkey along the beach, and at sister restaurant Cheeky Monkey on the Malecon. There are always plenty of restaurants and bars offering 2X1 drink specials. Relax under a tropical palapa or engage in wide variety of fun activities. See more fabulous Puerto Vallarta photos HERE.
There are Spring Break accommodations to fit every budget. Gather a group of friends and split the cost of renting a luxury villa or a modest condo. Many Spring Break tourists stay at sprawling all-inclusive resorts lining 8-mile-long Flamingos Beach in Nuevo Vallarta, which is my neighborhood just north of Puerto Vallarta. These giant luxury hotel chains like Hard Rock Vallarta and the Riu have special on-location festivities day and night.
Other students stay in downtown Puerto Vallarta at one of many budget hotels. If you’re a Spring Break traveler that prefers to be in the heart of the action in the Romantic Zone, this is the location for you. You’ll be near the party scene at the beach and walking distance to super affordable restaurants and bars. You’ll also be close to the strip of nightclubs along the the mile-long beachfront Malecon.
Expand the beach party by taking a water taxi to outlying beaches that are only accessible by boat. A super festive beach with music, restaurants, bars, beach activities and fun is Playa Las Animas. You get there by water taxi. Save one Spring Break day to hop on a Compostela (white/green) bus heading north to Sayulita, the fabulous surf town with a colorful Bohemian vibe. During Spring Break there are huge stages set up on the beach in Sayulita with dancing girls wearing cheerleader-type uniforms sporting Mexican beer brands. Giant speakers on the sand turn up the volume with hip hop, pop and Latin rock. Waiters serve patrons on the beach. Plenty of Corona, Tecate, Margaritas and good grub everywhere! Beach vendors carry large trays of cookies and treats, and the Candy Man comes by with his giant cart of goodies. And the best part is that everything’s fantastically affordable. Take a look at the exchange rates HERE.
During the day popular spring break adventures include kayaking, snorkeling, parasailing, swimming with dolphins, and bungee jumping. During your vacation make time to ride dune buggies, go horseback riding on the beach, and sailing on Banderas Bay. Sign up for a booze cruise, the Pirate Ship, or a fun zip line tour over the jungle canopy. Hold baby tigers and jaguars at the Vallarta Zoo, and spend time shopping for colorful souvenirs. In the above photo Brooke is enjoying boom netting on the backside of a catamaran. Both of my young 20-something girls enjoy the freedom of life in Puerto Vallarta!
When the sun goes down the lights come on! Experience the vibrant nightlife in Puerto Vallarta. Along the downtown Malecon the strip of open-air night clubs are bustling with action. You can’t miss the strobe lights, smoke, giant screens, and music. Many of these clubs have a casual dress code. In the photo above you can see Brooke (left corner) and her friend Haley popping a bottle of champagne! A few of the night clubs like Senior Frogs has special foam nights. A line of taxi cabs sit ready and prepared outside the venue with their seats covered in plastic.
If you’re feeling fancy, put on your heels and get all dressed up. Luxury nightclubs like Strana, Xtine, and La Santa have a high-end party atmosphere and a dress code. These clubs rival the excitement of Las Vegas at a fraction of the cost. Some venues sell wristbands for unlimited drinks. There are a plentiful number of taxis available for transportation back to your hotel at the end of the evening. The legal drinking age in Puerto Vallarta is 18.
