Ingredients
For the Cranberry Margarita
- 1 cup frozen cranberries
- 4 ounces blanco tequila (silver tequila)
- 2 ounces orange liqueur
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
- 1 1/2 ounces light agave or simple syrup, or to taste
For Rimming & Garnishing
- Fresh Limes: For moistening the rim of the glasses, and for garnishing.
- Granulated Sugar or Margarita salt: For a sweet or salty rim.
- Fresh Cranberries: For garnishing.
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs: For garnishing.
Instructions
Recipe Prep: If desired, rim your cocktail glass. Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass to moisten it. Then dip the rim into a plate of Margarita salt, coarse salt, or granulated sugar.
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender: frozen cranberries, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, cranberry juice cocktail, agave and ice. Blend on high speed until smooth. Do a taste test. If the cranberries are too tart, add a bit more agave to balance out the flavor.
- Pour the cranberry Margarita into the prepared glass. Garnish this tequila cocktail with a wheel of lime or a rosemary sprig, and a few fresh cranberries. Enjoy!
Notes
Light Agave: We like using this type for Margaritas as the taste is sweeter than amber agave, and it doesn’t add any flavor to the recipe. It allows the cranberry taste to really shine through. Agave is also called “agave nectar.” Amber agave has a caramel taste with a rich flavor.
How to batch this recipe for parties: Assemble the drink mixture without the ice. Store it in a large beverage container. Rim several cocktail glasses in advance and have them ready on a serving tray. You can prep the garnishes in advance as well. Once the party begins, you can make one or more drinks by adding the Margarita mixture to a blender with ice and blending.
