Description

Nothing beats the wholesome goodness of a freshly-blended pumpkin pie smoothie. Brimming with delicious seasonal flavors, this is a no-guilt beverage perfect for sipping with a smile.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2/3 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 3 frozen bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup almond milk (or your favorite milk)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, or more if desired
  • 3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (plus more for garnishing)
  • OPTIONAL: Whipped topping

FOR A MILKSHAKE TASTE: If you love the flavor of vanilla extract, try adding a splash! It will enhance the fall flavors and make the mixture taste more like a milkshake.

Instructions

RECIPE PREP: Chill 2 tall drinking glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours) before blending the beverages. It’s a treat to enjoy smoothies in cool frosty glasses! It also helps keep the mixture from liquifying quickly.

  • Measure out the ingredients. Add almond milk to the blender. Then add maple syrup and pumpkin puree, followed by pumpkin pie spice and frozen bananas.
  • Blend until the mixture reaches a thick smooth consistency, about 30 to 45 seconds. If you have one, use the tamper tool (with the blender lid on) to remove any pockets of air. This will aid the blades of the blender with mixing so the consistency will be beautifully smooth. If the mixture is too thick, thin it out by adding more milk.
  • Divide pumpkin pie smoothie between 2 tall frosty glasses. Add straws. Serve and enjoy straight away!

Notes

Do the bananas need to be frozen? It’s highly recommended. Frozen bananas give smoothies a thick, creamy, milkshake-like texture. It eliminates the need to add ice. But in a pinch, you can use fresh non-frozen bananas for a quick healthy smoothie, adding a little crushed ice at the end.

How to fix a smoothie that’s blah? Add more pumpkin pie spice along with a splash of vanilla extract. You can also try applesauce, or a bit of apple juice. Just include more frozen fruit to maintain thickness. You can also add more maple syrup, or a few pinches of brown sugar or granulated sugar.
