Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs

Description

This recipe is a helpful guide for achieving perfect air fryer soft boiled eggs. Enjoy the exact level of yolk consistency you’ve been craving, every time!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (or more) fresh eggs
  • Ice and cold water (combined in a large bowl), for an ice-water bath

Instructions

Recipe Prep: Preheat the air fryer to 250°F (120°C).

Carefully arrange the fresh eggs inside the air fryer basket leaving space between them. Do not stack the eggs. If needed, cook them in batches.

For Extra Runny (Jammy) Yolks

  • Air fry for 9 minutes.
  • Note: At 8 minutes the egg whites are still runny, so I wouldn’t recommend cooking for less than 9 minutes.

For Medium-Soft Yolks

  • Air fry for 10 to 11 minutes.
  • Note: At 10 minutes the eggs look fairly similar to the ones cooked for 11 minutes, so I’d say there’s not a big difference between the two cook times.

For Hard Yolks

  • Air fry for 13 to 15 minutes.
  • Note: I’d consider the eggs “hard boiled” after 13 minutes, but I prefer cooking them for 15 minutes just to make sure.

After cooking, immediately transfer the eggs to an ice-water bath. Let the eggs sit in the icy water for about 5 to 6 minutes. This should be sufficient time to cool them down completely and halt the cooking process. Peel your soft boiled eggs and enjoy!

Notes

Temperature of the eggs for air frying: I use cold eggs, straight from the fridge, and they turn out just fine. But to prevent possible cracking and promote even cooking, many people prefer using room temperature eggs. If you’re short on time, you can run the eggs under lukewarm water for a few minutes to help bring them to room temperature before cooking.
